2014 AMI Round the Bays

Here at Waterford Security we love a challenge. We have an enthusiastic bunch of people who this year got together and entered a team into the 2014 AMI Round the Bays.
They met bright and early at Frank Kits Park on Sunday morning 23 February. Excitement was high and the competitive nature of the participants started to show with the fast keen ones moving to the front of the bunch to get a good starting spot. The rest hung back with the crowds and enjoyed the music and warm up exercises.
There was a bit of a delay to the start but that did not dampen the spirits of the 14,000 participants on the day. Once the starting gun went it was all on. The sun was shining, the music pumping, the friendly faces at the drink stations were cheering us on. There were hoses, bubbles, entertainment as well as lots of puffing and grunting. They reached the finish line with a great sense of achievement and camaraderie with 1 completing the half marathon, 5 running the 10 km race and 1 doing the 6.5km. And we had some little people to as a welcoming support crew.
At the finish there was some much needed stretching and refuelling.
And some free ice blocks from the friendly volunteers
It was a beautiful, fun day. Well done to the organisers. The free buses back to the start line were much appreciated and a fun way travel.
For one hot team member a quick backflip into the harbour was all that was needed to finish of a perfect morning.
